Hliněné dekorace na hliněných stavbách se nacházejí po celém světě a vyznačují se viditelnými rozdílnostmi podle původní lokality. V našem příspěvku hledáme a rozebíráme společné aspekty ovlivňující výslednou podobu dekorací. Naše hlavní pozornost je věnovaná zejména africkému světadílu a tamnímu exteriérovému řešení vstupních portálů staveb, která byla podložena dostupnými obrazovými materiály. Vstupní portály obytných budov jsou zajímavé hlavně díky rozmanitosti jejich zpracování. Vyskytují se zde hliněné dekorace nejrůznějších měřítek v prostorovém reliéfním zobrazení i v ploše. Barevná vyjádření jsou další vrstvou promítající se do konečné podoby dekorace. Hra se sobě vlastním, a pro přírodní materiál typickým zbarvením, nebo naopak promyšlená práce s příměsí barevných pigmentů a dalších organických či anorganických materiálů. Bohatě zdobené barevné realizace a naproti tomu strohá monochromatičnost. V příspěvku jsou dále shrnuty výsledky dvou let výzkumných prací na tématu hliněných dekorací, které byly zpracovány v rámci projektu specifického výzkumu Hlína pro lidi na Fakultě architektury VUT v Brně.

Earthen decorations on earthen buildings are found variously around the world and are characterized by visible differences according to the original site. In our paper we search for and discuss common aspects influencing the final form of the decorations. In particular, our main focus is on the African continent and the exterior design of the entrance portals of the buildings there, which has been supported by the available visual materials. The entrance portals of residential buildings are interesting mainly due to the variety of their details. There are earthen decorations of various scales in both spatial relief and surface. The colour representations are another layer that is reflected in the final form of the decoration. Playing with the inherent and typical colouring of the natural material, as well as engaging sophisticated work with the admixture of coloured pigments and other organic or inorganic materials. Richly decorated colour realisations and, on the other hand, austere monochrome. The article also summarizes the results of two years of research work on the topic of earthen decorations, which were developed within the specific research project “Hlína pro lidi” at the Faculty of Architecture of Brno University of Technology.
