Potřeba obstát na trhu práce, zvládnout odbornost a schopnost se úspěšně začlenit do fungujícího pracovního trhu vyžaduje kromě odborných kompetencí též řadu soft-skills, např. osvojení prezentačních a komunikačních dovedností, schopnost pracovat v týmu aj. K tomu by měl absolventy přivést rytmus osvojené práce ze způsobu studia. Cílem výzkumu je pohlédnout, jaký přínos pro studenty výuka předmětů má. Výzkumné otázky se zaměřují na to, jaké faktory kvality výuky, příp. skupiny podobných faktorů tento přínos významným způsobem ovlivňují. Ukazuje se, že nemusí jít pouze o jediný klíčový faktor, nýbrž o kombinaci řady faktorů kvality, které bychom intuitivními cestami nemuseli postihnout, zatímco vědeckometodická kritéria jej spolehlivě odhalí. Kvalitní pedagogové, aplikace moderních principů do výuky – to jsou vlivy, které by měly pozitivně rezonovat při realizaci výuky jako takové. Hledá se především přínospředmětů pro studenty, pro jejich osobní rozvoj a praxi. Množství kritérií je široce rozmanité. Lze se zaměřit na vhodnost a efektivitu vyučovacích metod, využití moderní techniky ve výuce, osobnost učitele, na pohodu prostředí, jak studenti sami reflektují přínos předmětu, jak je obohacuje, jestli rozvíjí jejich intelektuální či tvořivé schopnosti apod., např. strukturace výuky, obsah a rozsah učiva, individuální podpora studentů či transparentní očekávání výkonu aj. Je možné dále tato kritéria porovnávat.
