Original Abstract
The paper presents a detailed comparison of the global optimization approaches (genetic algorithms, particle swarm optimization) to the tuning of a dual-band planar antenna for mobile communication applications. As a typical representative of such antennas, a double-U antenna is chosen. The full-wave model of the antenna is developed in Zeland IE3D, simulation results are exported to MATLAB, where the optimization is performed. As an optimization criterion, impedance matching in GSM bands (900 MHz, 1 800 MHz) is considered.
