Original Abstract
High-temperature lubricity takes place in many applications today because of the current tendency in high powers of thermo-mechanical systems, cutting, forming, casting, etc. There are several ways to ensure the tribological systems work reliably (use of ceramic parts or lubricants with high-temperature additives on the base of MoS2 , h-BN, graphene, graphene-oxides, fullerenes, etc.) and coating presents an effective and economical solution in the area above 500 °C. Apart from sprayed thick plasma coatings, the PVD technologies present a very convenient solution with a broad variety of chemical compositions, structural modifications, and other technical parameters. The thicknesses are so tiny that normally they do not affect the dimensions of the parts or the quality of the surface. However, specific problems like the production of built-up edge, the tendency of cold welding, wear, or other phenomena are difficult to predict so a felicitous laboratory test is a good advantage for optimization of the coating. This paper deals with testing of (Cr,V)N and (Ti,Al)N + (Cr,V)N coating for use in cutting and die casting.
