Original Abstract
Educational videos inject vitality into the English for specific purposes (ESP) learning process, rendering content dynamic, engaging, and challenging. The collaborative cognitive atmosphere fostered during video sessions promotes attentiveness among students, requiring active effort to comprehend the learning material. The combination of auditory and visual stimuli enhances material absorption, and video information improves memorization and future recall. The chapter aims to identify the potential of integrating video content in ESP lessons to facilitate second language acquisition (SLA). It explores the effectiveness of educational videos, resonating with students on an emotional level and cultivating high motivation, thereby enhancing the absorption of new information. Furthermore, the chapter provides a comprehensive analysis of selected educational videos centred around electrical engineering (EE) and information technology (IT), scrutinizing their efficacy in ESP acquisition. It explores how educational videos control cognitive load, foster student engagement, and promote active learning to effective language acquisition within professional and academic contexts.
