Original Abstract
Alkali-activated slag concrete (AASC) represents probably the most often used non-clinker concrete. It is environmentally friendly concrete; it shows good workability, good mechanical properties, quick setting and hardening and high compressive and bending strength. Good resistance to different chemical solutions was mentioned. However, a slight difference in results can be observed because of the different chemical composition of slag in different countries. The present paper is focussed on the resistance of AASC. In accordance with Czech norm CSN 73 1322, one cycle represents 4 hours in a freezer (-20 C) and two hours in water (+20 C). This procedure was modified. Water was replaced by the solution of HH4Cl, Na2SO4 and by the solution of acetate acid. The freeze-thawing treatment of 125 cycles was applied to the concrete. Bending strength, modulus of elasticity and fracture characteristics were measured using frosted and comparative beams. The results are compared with the results obtained for usual, portland cement based self compacting concrete with slag admixture.
