Original Abstract

The paper summarizes knowledge acquired from analysis of automatic control of municipal solid waste incinerator plant. The analysis is concerned with non-catalytic reduction of nitrogen oxides (NOx) in the combustion products by means of injection of ammonia water solution (NH4OH) into the upper part of boiler hearth. An automatic control is used for ammonia’s dosing. Objective of this control is to keep NOx level in the combustion products below the ecological limit. The base of a standard control is a proportional-integrative (PI) controller. It was discovered during the analysis that for the given process the integrative component isn’t suitable. It is because the ammonia reducing potential is limited.

Keywords

Municipal waste incinerator plant, nitrogen oxides (NOx), non-catalytic reduction of nitrogen oxides, ammonia water solution (NH4OH), and automatic control.
