Original Abstract

This work presents energetic balance of three possible but technologically different sludge disposals in WWTP. The first one is raw sludge combustion – product of water treatment. The second one is digested sludge combustion – product coming from digestion tanks. And finally the third one is drying of digested sludge with potential utilization in cement kilns. The reason for this third case lays in the possibility of usage of waste heat to dry wet sludge and in the fact that sludge is after incineration bound to clinker. In addition considerable amount of clinker raw material can be saved. The most important factors influencing results of energetic balances are the Heating Value of dry matter of sludge and the degree of dewatering. The degree of dewatering is usually found between 25 and 35 percent of dry matter in sludge. This range was taken into account in energetic balances to achieve in practice useable results.
