Original Abstract
A general circuit model equivalent to the solution of the Poisson’s or Laplace’s equation is derived in the paper supposing that the corresponding PDE is discretized by the Finite Element Method. The presented model is demonstrated on the field of the steady currents, but it can be applied to other fields, which are described by any potential equations including quasi-static potential equation. It is shown that without introducing suitable boundary conditions, FEM discretisation represents resistive grid with floating undefined potential. Only introduction of appropriated boundary conditions (including current fed electrodes, electrodes with floating potential or some additional electronic circuits) assures unambiguous solution of the system of equations. Introduction of unbounded region into the circuit model is discussed, too. The paper is suitable for workers specialized in the circuit theory to which it gives basic information on the connection between some field scalar potential problem and a circuit.
