Original Abstract

Macrodefect-free (MDF) composites are based on water-soluble polymer and cement. They are characterized by extremely low porosity and atypical mechanical properties. The polymer is added into mixture to improve some mechanical properties, especially flexural strength and impact resistance. For example the flexural strength is more than one order higher if compared with ordinary portland cement concrete. Monitoring of the kinetics of MDF composites hydration process according to phase composition requires reactions stopping and evaluation of actual phase composition. This paper deals with monitoring of microstructure evolution in the samples processed with microwave hydration stopping.
