Original Abstract
Corrosion of reinforcing steel in concrete is the predominant causal factor in the premature degradation of reinforced concrete (RC) structures, characterized by mass concrete cracking and spalling. The corrosion products exert an expansive stress on concrete whose tensile strength is usually low. As a result, corrosion affected RC structures are more prone to concrete cracking, incurring considerable costs of repairs and inconvenience to the public due to interruptions. This paper attempts at the detailed analysis of the analytical models proposed by Liu and Weyers [1] and Li et al. [2].
