Original Abstract
This paper introduces an approach to modelling crack bridge behavior by evaluation of the mean performance of a multifilament yarn. The influence of imperfections in the material structure is discussed using several parametric studies. The disorder in the filament bundle and the heterogeneity in the interface layer are described in form of statistical distributions. The correlation between these distributions is analyzed. Based on this analysis an approach to derive an objective statistical representation of the material structure is proposed. Finally the application to the experiment is described.
