Original Abstract
The paper deals with the problem of seismic resistance assessment of large industrial boiler structures destinated for areas highly endangered by earthquakes. The paper contains the description of the procedures applied in the seismic response analysis of two boiler structures using sophisticated finite element computation models. The approach in modeling integrated systems of steel structure, piping and vessels is described. Dead loads as well as pressure loads have been considered in computing the combined responses. Essential results of the seismic analyses are discussed. The approach in the assessment of limit states of the complex structure in the seismic design situation is described.
