Original Abstract

Living polymers have a great potential for synthesis new polymer architectures displaying unique properties such as block copolymers and macromonomers. Macromonomers are macromolecules with polymerizable entities at one or both chain ends. Our synthetic method for macromonomers was the termination of a living polymer with additives. Since the phenoxy-imine titanium complex activated by methylaluminoxane (MAO) as cocatalyst promotes living polymerisation of ethylene (Fujita et al, 2002), the polymer chain ends remain active after the consumption of monomer. Because of the possibility of end functional group detection in IR and NMR spectra polyethylene oligomers with molar masses about 5 000 g/mol were prepared.Iodine, propylene oxide, styrene, methyl acrylate, 10-undecen-1-ol and 10-undecenoic acid were examined as the additives
