Smyslem odvodnění měst je ekologicky a bezporuchově odvádět veškeré odpadní vody z urbanizovaných území tak, aby se minimalizovala rizika ohrožení majetku a zdraví obyvatel měst.

The main function of urban drainage is to ensure an environment-friendly and trouble-free conveying of wastewater from the whole urbanised area so as to minimise the risk to property and health of the inhabitants. When defining the reliability of the water management systems we draw upon the risk analysis, the objective of which is to define the likelihood of the burst occurrence (burst scenario) with the evolution of the level of insecurity related to the submitted result. The quantitative level of the system or system element reliability can then be understood as a likelihood of a trouble-free operation in the relevant interval, the intensity of bursts, medium period of trouble-free functioning or density of trouble-free functioning periods. Given the great number of causes and sources of bursts and mutual combinations in the risk scenarios , finding a solution is a very difficult task reflecting the level of knowledge in the relevant field. The submitted article represents a paper in the field of determining hydraulic reliability of the sewer system.
