Original Abstract

The paper compares different methods of power spectral density estimation of noise. In the first part, estimation bias, estimation variance and estimation consistency are proposed as criteria for comparison of methods. In the next part, the non-parametric (periodogram, Bartlett and Welch methods) and the parametric (AR model) methods are discussed. Finally, the enhancement of noisy speech recordings from an actual environment by spectral subtraction using various methods of power spectral density estimation is realized and the result is evaluated.
