Original Abstract
In the contribution finite element simulations based on the microstructure of polymer composite filled by interphase coated particles are conducted in order to transfer the information from micro to macro scale. The numerical analysis was carried out to study the influence of the soft interphase between particles and matrix on the macro-properties of the composite. The composite has been modelled as a three-phase continuum. Predicted values of the effective macro-modulus of particle filled composite are given as function of the thicknesses and the material properties of the interphase and the volume fraction of the particles. The influence of the interphase on the fracture toughness of the composite is discussed.
