Original Abstract

Independence on foreign energy sources, possibility of energy storage and possibility of clean energy conversion are main reasons for contemporary tendency to use of hydrogen in all energy conversion devices. This will bring need for large use of hydrogen safety sensors. Very convenient material for hydrogen sensors are noble metals and especially palladium which in interaction with hydrogen change its conductivity, optical properties and the work function. Palladium sensors based on change of the work function were investigated. Basic principles and properties of palladium based hydrogen sensors are described and main conclusions from experiments with measurement of surface potential and palladium gate FET structure sensor are given.
