Original Abstract

Descaling of hot rolled plates is a typical application for high pressure flat jet nozzles. A row of nozzles with an overlapping area at a direction of a moving hot plate is usually used. Homogeneity of descaling is very important parameter for final quality of the rolled plate. This paper describes the measurements of impact footprint for a single nozzle as well as for two overlapping nozzles. Two different methods of measurements were used. The first method measures impact forces in free stream, the second one measures impact forces of water stream penetrating through a forming water layer on a test plate. Size of a pressure sensor also influences the measurement data.
