Original Abstract

Transparent realistic human airway model with non-symmetric bifurcations and non-planar geometry containing parts from throat to 3rd-4th generation of bronchi was used for study of a transport of micron-size liquid aerosol particles. Velocity of the particles in a size range 1 to7 microns was measured under steady and cyclic flow conditions using Phase Doppler Analyser. Significant differences between steady and cyclic particle flows were found. Specific particle flow patterns under cyclic breathing are documented in the paper.
