Original Abstract

This paper presents two standards of digital television broadcasting to handheld devices - DVB-H and DVB-SH. Main properties of both systems are mentioned. Link layers and physical layers of both systems are then described and compared. Since DVB-SH system is going to work as a hybrid of satellite and terrestrial broadcasting system, the satellite and terrestrial propagation characteristics and channel models are discussed. Reference receiver architecture of DVB-H, DVB-SHA and DVB-SHB modes are outlined too.
