Original Abstract
In the paper an approach is presented using which the distribution and width of cracks developing on the tensioned surface of pre-stressed railway sleeper during standardized evaluative bending tests can be estimated. The procedure is based on results of an extensive FEM study which cover relatively large scatter of material parameters of concrete and several variants of FE mesh. Within individual simulations of the study the progress of the crack width field is investigated and the results are then assessed into a tool utilizable for evaluation of prescribed standardized loading tests of sleepers in the manufacture plants. Obtained results are validated by experimentally measured data.
