Original Abstract
The usage of GIS from the standpoint of the environment is the theme of this article. The design and implementation of GIS for solving of assignments in given problems are described here. The system is designed with the least possible financial costs and is therefore particularly suitable for small municipalities. The article presents the typical assignments of GIS for the environment: determining of erosive values for the interest area in the farmed land and the proposal of anti-erosion measures, assessment of the stress factors in the areas of housing from the standpoint of environmental study, finding an appropriate plot for a placement of ground water purifier, location of solar power plant and placement of wind power plant. These mentioned assignments were resolved in the designed GIS using of spatial analyses. This project originated at the Institute of Geodesy of Brno University of Technology and was resolved under the project 'GIS of small municipalities' [Bartoněk & Pospíšil, 2009].
