Original Abstract

The effect of this new MEDIN geometry is a reduction of insertion forces and reduction in heat generation during drilling. The aim of the study was to design a superior K wire tip and to compare its performance with the commonly used trochar and diamond tips. The new design does however have a low insertion torque this may mean that pull out from bone will be easier and the author suggest that a threaded version of this wire is used when bone hold is important.
