Original Abstract
This article deals with a specialized Image Processing procedure for blood vessel detection in a digital image. For this purpose, the digital image is acquired in NIR (Near-Infra-Red light band, invisible to the naked eye) with an approximate wavelength range of 800 - 1000nm. This part of light spectrum can be visualized by a common CCD camera chip. The image processing procedure uses, firstly, edge detection techniques, based on the second deriva-tive of image function - the Laplace operator, and, secondly, image smoothing procedures for minimizing the noise influence.
