Original Abstract

Nowaday optical fibers are undoubtedly the most perspective medium due to enourmous transmission capacity compared to other media. Despite this advantage the optical fiber is not an ideal transmission medium but a lossy and dispersive medium. These properties of optical fibers have an undesirable effect on the signal being transferred. This signal is in consequence of these phenomena deformed and the maximum of transmission rate is thus limited. This article deals with the dispersive properties of Single Mode fibers, describes the major characteristics of these phenomena and also describes this effects on the optical communication system.
