Original Abstract

The presented paper is motivated to unify the different notations and concepts of B-splines available in literature as well as their graphical representation are shown besides their theoretical background. The effect of multiply control points and the effect of multiply knots are discussed in detail as the options for shape modification of the spline curves. Quadratic and cubic splines are visually compared in both the uniform and non-uniform cases. Finally the B-spline properties are summarized.
