Original Abstract
Liquid organic compounds and/or air polluted by these compounds are produced in many industrial branches. Therefore units for their treatment are used in paint shops, chemical cleaning systems, degreasing processes (in the case of operation of printing machines) for the thermal treatment of gas wastes from various chemical processes and off-gases originating in refineries, in the production of plastics and in the pharmaceutical and food industries, laboratories, etc. Different methods are utilized for the treatment of gas or liquid organic compounds. The thermal treatment of wastes can be considered as one of the most frequently used and most efficient process. This method is based on high temperature oxidation of organic compounds by oxygen from air when inert (i.e. not harmful) gases like CO2 and H2O are generated. In order to obtain information as close to a real operation as possible the design of a research facility in an industrial scale has to be done. The research facility is equipped with action controllers which provide us with a possibility to change process parameters while all measured data are processed by an in-line computer system in real time. Owing to this process control system it is possible to verify the unit functionality in a wide range of regimes of operation, to acquire and evaluate all the important data and to make suggestions for further improvement of the unit.
