Original Abstract

In the last few years, SMP clusters have gained significant popularity in the field of parallel computing due to their excellent price/performance ratio and possible universal use. This paper shows some aspects of SMP clusters with regard to implementation of various parallel algorithms. Three types are presented, which demonstrate different computation/communication patterns: process farm, pipeline and data parallel computing on a linear processor chain. All these programming paradigms are modeled and simulated on various SMP cluster configurations and the obtained results are discussed.
