Original Abstract

The fundamental objective of Nanotechnology is to model, simulate, design and manufacture nanostructures and nanodevices with extraordinary properties and assemble them economically into a working system with revolutionary functional abilities. The understanding of novel physical, chemical, biological, optical, electronic, magnetic and other phenomena and material properties will bring an interdisciplinary approach to the science. Therefore, the industrial and academic will need people who think, measure, engineer on the nanometer scale, and who must possess strong multidisciplinary skills. The main target of presented new course on Nanotechnology and Nanophotonics is to convey the basic concepts of Nanoscience to Electrical Engineering students with almost no background in quantum mechanics and statistical mechanics. The paper describes an experience obtained in the organization of such course during last two academic years with 80 students.
