Original Abstract
The paper is concerned with problems related to the spreading multiculturalism in the Czech Republic. Over the last 40 years the cultural homogeneity was characteristic for the Czech Lands. The situation has changed considerably over the last 15 years. In the Czech Republic the number of immigrants living, working or studying, is significantly increasing. The majority of them tend to live in the biggest cities in Czech Republic as Brno, Prague, Ostrava, Plzen etc. The study of living preferences of expats and different groups of immigrants are important and useful in urban planning and cities development. The following study is dealing with the increasing number of foreigners in Brno and Prague. The study focuses on perception of the city using a creative mapping method. The individual drawings of expatriats present places, where they like to spend time, what they appreciate, and what they do not like, where they do not feel good or think that some places are not safe or problematic. Practical applications of the research outcomes are widely discussed.
