Original Abstract

Historical documents and images have problems with their degradation. The factors influencing the stability of documents and images are the material, processing, technologies and surrounding environment like temperature, relative humidity, ozone and other air pollutants. These problems must be solved. In museums images and documents are damaged the most by light. Ideally, the display of duplicates is the best solution. The originals will be protected and duplicates can be put on display every day. There are several techniques for duplication of original archival documents: pigment based inkjet printing technology on special papers and laser light exposure of silver halide photopaper followed by chemical processing.
