Original Abstract
This paper describes the modern method for electric drives. This method uses the system programmable logic gate arrays (FPGA). Using sine lookup tables and Pulse Width Modulators (PWMs) programmed into the FPGA logic, it is possible to generate the signals required to drive a three phase half H-Bridge (inverter) used in AC motor drives. This paper also explains how we can generate the PWM signals required to drive an AC motor inverter by using a single up-down counter unit and three comparators units. Moreover, this article shows the types of sine wave generation by using sine lookup table. This paper shows the possibility of simulation the design on the monitor by using the function (testbench waveform). This system requires software which is a version of ISE and hardware which is a SPARTAN board.
