Original Abstract

This study is focused on the development and application of reliable analytical method for detection and determination of 6 selected acidic drugs from the group on non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs: acetaminophen (paracetamol), ibuprofen, naproxen, ketoprofen, diclofenac and salicylic acid. Applied method is based on solid phase extraction (SPE) and final analysis by capillary zone electrophoresis with detector of diode array (CZE-DAD). SPE/CZE method is presented as a method applicable in the field of environmental analysis and monitoring of aquatic ecosystems. The method was successfully applied for the determination of selected drugs in wastewaters from the influent and effluent of wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) in Brno-Modřice, Czech Republic. Limits of detection were ranged from 0.46 to 1.28 ug/L depending on specific compound. Levels of concentrations of selected drugs were ranged from 0.61 to 42.80 ug/L in the influent and from 0.47 to 6.46 ug/L in the effluent of the WWTP.
