Original Abstract
Abstract: Ultra-wide band (UWB) applications are specified by using broadband signals in a large range of frequency bands, especially microwaves. The most used band is the free frequency band from 3.1 GHz to 10.6 GHz in several channels with a bandwidth up to 1.3 GHz. Transmitting in such a wide range enables very high data rates- up to 1.32 Gbit/s if direct sequence transmission is used and up to 480 Mbit/s if transmission with ODFM modulation is used. Moreover, a big advantage of such wideband signals is a very high level of resistance to interference and noise. Due to broadband transmission there is an opportunity to use UWB for positioning transmitters or receivers using the TDOA (Time Difference Of Arrival) method. This article contains the theory of the TDOA positioning method, a description of the system and the design of the broadband pulse signal generator.
