The Dependence of Prices and Sales of Selected Food Commodities

This paper deals with analysis of sales of apples in a concrete company for a period of 10 consecutive years by the time series. The paper contains a definition of time series, calculation methods and the determination of the dependence on the amount sold by the selling price. Primarily there have been used the following methods for the calculations: aggregation of data, regression analysis and calculation of the correlation coefficient to determine the linearity of the examined data. In this article the calculations serves as one of the basis for the creation of neural networks, which will be used for predicting the sales of food commodities. The aim of the paper is to analyse by the time series and regression analysis the internal indicators of the company for accomplished sales of apples and prove or disprove the hypothesis that apple sales are depending on selling price. This prediction model was created as a reaction to a request from practice to create a prediction model of selected food commodities, which are represented in this article by the apples commodity. The output of this paper is to identify the dependence of sold amount on the average selling prices. For the demonstration the dependence of the average sold prices and sold amount was used the correlation coefficient. This correlation coefficient shows significant tightness.
