Original Abstract
The paper deals with the influence of initial curvature of the axis of a member under compression on its behaviour in limit state. The initial curvature is modelled by the ID random field. The Latin Hypercube Sampling Method was applied. The load carrying capacity is calculated by geometrically nonlinear solution. The output random quantities are load carrying capacity, ultimate curvature of compression member and position on the axis where failure is initiated. The results are presented in histograms. A comparison is done showing how much there exists, or does no exist the affinity of initial curvature to the ultimate curvature. Histograms of load carrying capacity and position on the axis where failure is initiated are presented. The security problems of a steel member reliability are discussed in connection with the standards EUROCODE.
