Slider Device for the Subjective Quality Evaluation of the Picture and Video

Posuvný volič (tzv. hardwarový převodník) umožňuje subjektivní hodnocení kvality obrazu a videa dle platného standardu ITU-R BT. 500. Pro komunikaci jednotky s okolím se využívá sběrnice USB, ze kterého je současně i napájen. Periferní zařízení obsahuje univerzální obvod FT232 pro převod datové komunikace mezi rozhraním USART a USB. Délka posuvníku odpovídá doporučení standardu ITU-R BT. 500 a na textový dotaz odpovídá číslem, které reprezentuje danou polohu posuvníku na stupnici od 0 do 100. Pro správné vyhodnocení polohy se používá navrhnutý a programově realizován algoritmus (firmware). O univerzálnosti funkčního vzorku svědčí i fakt, že ve spojení s vhodnou aplikací je prakticky nezávislý na různých platformách operačních systémů (Windows, Linux).

The realized slider device (electronic recording handset) allows a subjective quality assessment of the image and video sequences, according to the ITU-R BT. 500 standard. For the communication between the PC and the unit there is used an USB bus, from which it is simultaneously supplied. The peripheral slider device contains universal FT232 circuit for the conversion of the data communication between the USART and USB interface. The range of the slider is linear and its length corresponds to the recommendations of the ITU-R BT.500 standard. The slider device replies to a text query responds with a number, representing the position of the slider between 0 and 100. For the correct evaluation of the sliders position a complete algorithm (firmware) was created and implemented. The designed device, with an appropriate application, is independent on the used operation systems (Windows, Linux).
