Original Abstract
The essential factors for the sustainable development of our society are reducing the buildings operation costs (especially costs for heating in winter and for cooling in summer) and reducing the consumption of primary raw materials thorough recycling, re-use of waste and secondary raw materials. Presented study evaluates the technical parameters, the possibility of production and use the thermal and acoustic insulating material that meets both of these requirements. This material is made from polyester fibers, which is otherwise difficult to recycle waste from the textile industry. It is bonded to a mat by thermal bonding method using BiCo fibers. The material shows potential to future partially replace of commonly used fibrous insulating materials based on mineral or glass fibers.
