Original Abstract

Usage of cartographic symbols on mapping outputs of students in the Czech republic is currently based on information and lists of symbols, which they acquire from legislations. The appropriate legislations are especially The Czech national standard 01 3411 (Large-scale maps. Drawing and symbols.) and The Announcement about Cadastre of Real Estates, as amended. Unfortunately these legislations do not contain complete procedures for real objects surveying or cartographic symbols location on the map. Problematic are also missing solutions of complicated situations and out-of-date legislations. For example Czech national standard 01 3411 has been valid without changes since 1989. During the mapping we can encounter complicated situations, for which do not exist uniform rules for mapping and drawing into the map, for example big billboard or more lights on one pole. In not updated standards lack symbols for objects, that did not occur in real world at the time of their publication, for example the parking payment machine. Therefore, creating the database should help students with their mapping outputs in both, surveying and visualization the real object in the final map. Its main content should consist of list of symbols, their visualization with proportions, photos of real object, procedures of surveying and cartographic symbols location into the map and other necessary information for outputs of students.
