Original Abstract
Methodologies used to obtain the values of certain quantities in the branches of building physics are quite often simplified. Daylighting design of buildings as much as the field of building acoustics and many other is not an exception to this statement. The numerical and graphical methods including the ones used in computer design tools for the determination of daylight factor levels inside buildings are often based on sky models and surface description, which does not correspond to reality, at least not at a full scale. Hence all of the calculations do have an errata, may it be small or big. To prevent the appearance of such mistakes CIE as the one and only internationally recognized organization did issue out a publication in the year of 2006, namely the CIE 171/2006 test report which can be used to assess the qualities of a lighting design tools whilst determining illuminance or daylight factor levels. However most of the test cases do test the capabilities of daylighting design tools only under theoretical, non-real conditions, for example: under a light reflectance of terrain equal to 30%, light reflectance value of indoor surfaces equal to 0% and at last but not least also under the presumption of a void as the main daylighting system. Therefore the aim of this particular paper is to point out some of the inconsistencies included in the CIE 171/2006 test report.
