Original Abstract

The contribution gives a brief explanation of a new theory concerning the analysis of dynamic properties of journal bearings, which is based on the Navier Stokes (NS), equation. The analysis comprises of two steps. First the analysis of the stationary movement is carried out and then the non-stationary analysis (dynamic). Movement of the body and fluid can be separated from one another through appropriate transformation. The additional fluid effects, which are mass, damping and stiffness tensors, are only a function of the position of the shaft center. The model sample provides a comparison with the solution obtained as based on the Reynolds (Re) equation.

Keywords
