Místním zdrojem budoucnosti nebudou jen jehličnaté, ale s významným podílem i listnaté dřevo. Použití listnatého dřeva ve stavebních konstrukcích není nová myšlenka. V historii bylo listnaté dřevo na našem území používáno běžně, ato zejména pro jeho dostupnost. Příkladem je četné použití dřeva listnatých dřevin v lidové architektuře. Další důvod k použití tvrdého dřeva do konstrukcí byl ve znalosti jeho odlišných vlastností od dřeva jehličnatého, a tedy k jeho využití v takových oblastech, ve kterých by jehličnaté dřevo neobstálo. Jedná se zejména o použití ve styku s vodou, ale i v mechanicky namáhaných částech staveb. Novodobě je listnaté dřevo využitelné na mnoha úrovních stavebního průmyslu. Lze jej úspěšně použít v podobě výrobků na bázi dřeva, výrobků z masivního dřeva použitého na nenosné konstrukce a především na konstrukce nosné, případně výrobků ze dřeva s upravenými vlastnostmi. Listnaté dřevo je přirozeným vysoce výkonným materiálem budoucnosti s výbornými mechanickými vlastnostmi.

There will be not only conifers as a local source in the future, but also significant share of hardwoods. Use of hardwoods in structures is not a new idea. Historically there have been hardwoods in our area commonly used, especially for its availibility. An example is the extensive use of hardwood in vernacular architecture. Another reason to use hardwood in construction was in the knowledge of its different properties from coniferous wood, and therefore its use in those areas, where the softwood would have not succeed. These include use in contact with water, but also in the mechanically stressed parts of buildings. Modern way the hardwood is useful at many levels of the construction industry. It can be successfully used in the form of wood based products, of wood products used for non-bearing structures and in particular to supporting structure, or products from modified wood. Hardwood is a natural future high-performance material with excellent mechanical properties.
