Original Abstract

This article presents a computational approach for prediction of excitation of vehicle body near the powertrain mounts. A Multi-Body System (MBS) is used for simulation of this problem, where powertrain is built as all-in-one model and transmission of torque from crankshaft to a vehicle wheels is incorporated. Therefore, this approach requires modelling of complete powertrain, including a final drive and drive shafts. The transmission of vibration from a powertrain to a vehicle body is realized by computational model of powertrain mountings system and simulation results are compared with data obtained by experiment at a passenger car vehicle with three-cylinder spark-ignition engine. The main aim of this article is a description of influence of different types of MBS model complexity on accuracy of simulation results, description of basic computational model of powertrain mounting system and a suggestion for mounting system optimisation during design process phase.
