Original Abstract

This article describes an experimental research on validating the qualitative parameters of MEMS-based microphones. The authors compare parameters of digital output MEMS microphones, with a particular focus on the sensitivity, frequency range, SNR, consumption, and temperature stability; the central aim is to provide a qualitative comparison of the digital interfaces of MEMS microphones intended for use in the extended frequency range up to the ultrasonic band. All of these parameters, together with the sensitivity bandwidth and frequency response of the noise density, are experimentally verified via standardized methods. The measured characteristics are compared to the related datasheets, and the real application possibilities of the microphones in the ultrasonic range are discussed to finalize the overall presentation of the problem. In the context of the overall description, the paper outlines the perspectives of digital output in ultrasonic technology.
