Original Abstract

We summarize the accomplishments of a multi-disciplinaryworkshop exploring the computational and scientific issuessurrounding the discovery of linguistic units (subwords andwords) in a language without orthography. We study the replacementof orthographic transcriptions by images and/ortranslated text in a well-resourced language to help unsuperviseddiscovery from raw speech.
