Original Abstract
In this work a systematic study of the characterization of humic acids and heavy metal-humic acid complexes with infrared spectroscopy has been presented. FT-IR spectroscopy is a useful tool in characterization of structure, functional groups and formation modes of humic acids. The multi-component nature of humic acid causes, that the interpretation of spectra is offen difficult. Infrared spectra were measured by two various infrared techniques like traditional KBr pellets and silicon plate (Nicolet 400 FT-IR spectrophotometer). It was observed that spectra measured using silicon plate are more suitable for comparison of various humic samples because they are more detailed than those measured in KBr pellets. The reason is probably formation of hydrogen bridges in KBr.
