Original Abstract
The application of polymeric materials for the manufacture of absorbing elements of solar collectors allows efficient transformation of solar radiation into thermal energy with low material consumption and reduced cost of solar installations. The solar collector of flat plate type is investigated as part of two contours solar installation. The collector is equipped with an absorber made from polyethylene film of special grade. It is observed that the efficiency of such a collector reaches up to 0.95. It can be produced up to four times cheaper than a sun collector with aluminium metal absorbers. The empirical correlations for estimation of collector efficiency and heat flux depending on heated media flow rate are presented. These correlations, together with data for heated media temperature at the collector exit and solar unit operating time at daylight with different heat carrier flow rates, are used for the design of solar heating installations with plastic absorbing elements and their integration into heat supply systems at the industry and in the communal sector.
