Original Abstract
Using data from smart meters for billing issue is an obvious application of Smart Metering. But focusing on smart metering data analytics for grid monitoring and automation is missing. The paper focuses on possibilities of using data from smart meters for data analytics and grid monitoring (Smart Metering application beyond billing data). The paper deals with two use cases for which the prediction and forecasting of energy consumption is crucial. The first use case is the estimated consumption and energy values for grid monitoring (possibility to forecast energy values for predicted potential events) and the second use case is to compare the consumption of all Smart Meters in the particular location with the measurement of total consumption in the substation (sum of all consumptions - black consumption identification or protection of energy grid during various disturbances). Counting data from non-communicating electricity meters is necessary for grid monitoring and ability to measure all electrical values in synchronized power system measurements.
