Original Abstract
Some research has been done on the fiber-matrix bond characteristics between the surface-modified steel fibers and the RPC matrix in the past few years. However, almost none of these studies show the influence of surface modifications on othe properties of RPCs reinforced with surface-modified steel fibers such as their bending strength. On the other hand, this research focuses mainly on the study of how the surface treatment of steel fibers affects bending strength, compressive strength and ballistic properties of stae-of-the-art cement composite reinforce with steel fibers. The steel fiber were firstly modified with simple chemical solutions or with mechanical treatment. Then, their properties were evaluated. It was found thatthe aforementioned properties of RPCs depend only slightly on the surface modification of the steel fibers.
